CHARACTER AGE: 24
SPECIES: Witch
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Lyra's parents originally lived in Siren Cove and were active members in the witching community. They moved to a new town soon before Lyra was born when her father got a new, better paying job. Lyra was an only child and so was absolutely doted on and utterly coddled her entire life. Her parents were good parents and did their best to help her control her rather erratic powers but even so, she was well known for being a bit of a disaster at school and home. Antiques weren't a thing in the Collins household as Lyra's powers would often get out of hand and absolutely destroy entire rooms.
Once she graduated high school, Lyra went off to college for astronomy and ended up graduating with a masters in it. Eventually, she'd like to go for a doctorate but that's put on hold until she can pay off her student debts and get her powers a bit more under control.
Now that Lyra's done with college and getting out in to the world, her parents have directed her towards Siren Cove to get herself set up properly in the witch community. Hopefully she will find herself a teacher who can give her a better understanding of her powers so she becomes a bit less of a witch-y wrecking ball.
PERSONALITY: Lyra's a sweetheart. She loves people and cares for them very easily. But she is far from a pushover. She will physically kick someone's ass if they mess with her friends. She's got a really wry sense of humour and enjoys slapping sarcasm into her conversations any chance she gets. Lyra's also a stickler for organizing things, though you wouldn't know it looking at her apartment, which is an utter mess. She likes to argue that organized doesn't necessarily mean clean, something which constantly irritates her mother.
OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Lyra knows about it from her parents and thinks its a load of utter bollocks, honestly. Why would anyone hate on witches for being witches when its not something they can control?
LIFESTYLE: Thanks to her father's connections and her own degree in astronomy, Lyra has herself a lovely position at the local planetarium. She found herself a small apartment and doesn't have much to fill it with right now. Most of her salary goes towards paying off her student debts (something her parents try to help out with but can't do much for, unfortunately)
POWERS &ABILITIES: Her powers are celestial based. She has a variety of basic witch powers (curses, charms, potion making, minor telekinesis/visions, etc) but what powers are available to her varies greatly depending on things like the lunar cycle and which constellations are visible at the time. If she attempts to use certain powers at the wrong time, they tend to go horribly (and embarrassingly) awry.
